The Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) is the largest school district in southern Arizona, providing transportation to and from school for over 20,000 students with a fleet of over 300 buses that drive over 1,250 bus routes. MGL supported TUSD on behalf of the local utility Tucson Electric Power to apply for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2023 Clean School Bus Competitive Grant Program. Working with the local bus vendor and the charging infrastructure provider, MGL utilized its fleet assessment to extract information that would both inform the short-term procurement choices and make the application more competitive by providing utility-related insights for a long-term fleet electrification roadmap.
